Otto Bouwknegt (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor, Otto Bouwknegt, initially studied Classics. After graduation, he studied singing at the Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag (Royal Conservatory in The Hague) with Meinard Kraak and then with Rita Dams and Diane Forlano. He is currently studying with Ronald Kleekamp. He attended master-classes with Emma Kirkby, Kurt Equiluz and Elly Ameling.

As a soloist, Otto Bouwknegt's repertoire covers all periods, with an emphasis on early music. He has worked with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Jos van Veldhoven, Philippe Herreweghe, Kenneth Montgomery and Oliver Knussen.

Abroad, he was heard at the San Antonio Festival of Early Music in the USA, under the direction of Paul McCreesh. Include Under the direction of William Christie, he starred in " David et Jonathas " by M.A. Charpentier with performances in Paris, Lyon, Geneva and London. With the renowned brass ensemble Concerto Palatino, he gave concerts in Spain and Austria.

Otto Bouwknegt part of the permanent member of the Amsterdam Baroque Choir conducted by Ton Koopman. He can also be heard regularly with Capella Figuralis, the soloist ensemble of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging. For 7 years he was a member of the Egidius Quartet, which performed at major festivals in Europe. With these ensembles he made several CD recordings.
