General If you want to contribute to the contents of the Bach Cantatas Website, you must be a member of either the Bach Cantatas Mailing List (BCML), or the Bach Recordings Mailing List (BRML), or the Bach Musicology Mailing List (BMML), according to the subject. How to contribute to the Bach Cantatas Website? Cantatas Section: Cantatas (by BWV number) If you want to discuss a Bach Cantata, please send a message to the BCML. The subject line should start with BWV NNN (where NNN is the number of the Cantata). Other Vocal Works Section: Bach's Great Vocal Works If you want to discuss a Vocal Work of J.S. Bach (except the Cantatas), please send a message to BCML. The subject line should start with BWV NNN (where NNN is the BWV Number of the Work), or with the name of the Vocal Work. Non-Vocal Works Section: Bach’s Non-Vocal Works If you want to comment about a review published in this section, or if you want to discuss another recording of a non-vocal work of Bach, please send a message to BRML. It is recommended that the subject line should start with BWV NNN (where NNN is the number of the work). Performers Section: Performers of the Cantatas If you want to discuss a certain Performer of the Bach Cantatas, please send a message to the BCML. The subject line should start with the name of the Performer. General Topics Section: General Topics If you want to discuss a general Topic regarding the Bach Cantatas, please send a message to the BCML, BRML or BMML. Biographies Section: A-B | C-E | F-G | H-J | K-L | M-O | P-R | S | T-Z Some bios of performers of the Bach Cantatas and Bach’s other vocal works are still missing, especially of singers from previous generations. List of the Missing Biographies appears above. Also, I am not immune from doing mistakes, and you might find broken or missing link, wrong or insufficient information, etc. If you want to contribute a short biography of a Performer of the Bach Cantatas, please send me a message. The subject line should start with the name of the Performer. You can also quote a reliable source. It that case, please mention the name of the Author and the exact source. Please, keep the biography concise (up to 1,000 words) and check the accuracy of the details. If you have a photo of the artist please send it as an attachement. You will be credited for your contribution. I shall edit it and put it in the Bach Cantatas for your review and approval. When you approve the article, I shall inform the BCML, and also other mailing lists and sites, if you wish. If you want to give your feedback to an article in the Bach Cantatas Website, please send a message to the BCML. Terms & Abbreviations Section: Terms & Abbreviations If there is any Term or Abbreviation regarding the Bach Cantatas, which you do not understand and you want it to be explained, please send a message to the BCML. The subject line should include, of course, the relevant Term or Abbreviation. I hope that one of the knowledgeable members in the BCML will be able to assist you. If you want to contribute an explanation to a Term or Abbreviation regarding the Bach Cantatas, please send a message to the BCML. Please, keep the explanation clear and concise as possible (up to about 100 words). If your explanation will be added to this section, you will be credited by mentioning your name. Music Examples Section: Music Examples There are not yet many music examples in this section. If you have any (legal) music example of any of Bach’s vocal works you would like to share with other Bach lovers, please send it to me, as an attachment to the message. Please write at the subject line that this is a music example. If you are aware of a musiexample of a recording of a Bach’s vocal work existing in other site, please send me the details, and I shall add the link accordingly. Information about a recording should include the following information: Conductor, Choir, Orchestra, Vocal soloists and their respective voices, Record Label, Month/Year of Recording, Medium (CD, LP, etc.), TT (Total Playing Time), Source for information (the recording itself, catalogue, Website, magazine, etc.). If you have a photo of the album, please send it as an attachement. How to send me material? The material to me should be sent as a plain text in the body of the message and not as an attachment. The only exceptions to this rule are music examples and photos.
