Richard Wyn Roberts (Counter-tenor)

Born: England

The English counter-tenor, Richard Wyn Roberts, was a choral scholar at New College, Oxford where he became a founder member of I Fagiolini. Following a year at the Royal College of Music, he sang with many leading early music ensembles, including The Sixteen, The Tallis Scholars and The King’s Consort. His oratorio engagements have taken him to South Africa, Japan and the USA, as well as throughout Europe, working with conductors such as Gustav Leonhardt and John Eliot Gardiner.

Richard Wyn Roberts has recorded for Harmonia Mundi with The Academy of Ancient Music, Chandos with I Fagiolini and Fretwork, Philips with the English Baroque Soloists, and Naxos with The Oxford Camerata. In 2000 he took part in John Eliot Gardiner's Bach Cantata Pilgrimage which gave performances around Europe of all the surviving sacred cantatas.
