Peter Harvey (Baritone)

Born: 1958 - England

The English baritone, Peter Harvey, received his musical training as a Choral Scholar at Magdalen College, Oxford, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Peter Harvey appears regularly with leading proponents of period performance in baroque music, including Harry Christophers and The Sixteen, Christopher Hogwood and the Academy of Ancient Music, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists, Gérard Lesne and Il Seminario Musicale, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Gabrieli Consort. Concert performances have includes Schubert's Mass in E flat, Bach’s St. Matthew (BWV 244) and St John Passions (BWV 245) and a number of Bach cantatas, including about 70 live performances with John Eliot Gardiner during Sir Gardiner’s historic Bach Cantata Pilgrimage Tour in 2000.

In addition to specializing in baroque, Peter Harvey is also not a stranger to contemporary music. One of his notable roles in the genre of contemporary music was St. John in the television premiere of The Cry of the Ikon by John Tavener.
