Péter Barczi (Violin, Musical Director)

Born: 1973 - Hungary

The Hungarian violinist, Péter Barczi, graduated in modern violin. He studied Baroque violin in Budapest , Dresden, Trossingen and Basel with Piroska Vitárius, Simon Standage, John Holloway, Anton Steck and Chiara Banchini.

For years Péter Barczi is a member of several Baroque orchestras such as La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, Barockorchester Capriccio Basel, Ensemble 415, and Orchester der J.S. Bach-Stiftung (Director: Rudolf Lutz). He also plays regularly in the Freiburger Barockorchester . With the ensemble Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci) he has recorded several CD's with sonatas by Dario Castello and Tarquinio Merula. He plays second violin in the string quartet Almaviva. With fellow musicians he founded in 2006 the " ensemble Capricornus Consort Basel, aiming to perform 5-8-voices polyphonic music from the 17th century.
