Daisuke Fujii (Bass-Baritone)

Born: Japan

The Japanese bass-baritone, Daisuke Fujii, studied at the Meiji University School of Commerce in Tokyo. He graduated in singing from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He studied singing with Masato Makino, Robert White, Montserrat Figueras and Peter Kooy.

Daisuke Fujii has been active mainly in sacred works, Purcell's King Arthur, J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Cantatas, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Masses, and served as a soloist in L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Gabriel Fauré's Requiem. He appeared in The Little Match Girl Passion by David Lang at NHK BS Classic Club.

Daisuke Fujii appeared at NHK-FM Masterpiece Recital, on NHK World Music Album as a member of the small ensemble Ruri. In addition, he has also participated in performances at home and abroad and as a member of the Bach Collegium Japan (Director: Masaaki Suzuki), in regular performances, recordings and overseas tours. In recent years he has widened his musical activities as a choral conductor.
