By the way, I picked up the latest Herreweghe Bach Cantatas BWV BWV 2, BWV 20 and BWV 176 and after a first listen, it left no favourable impression. Granted I'm no connoisseur, but I'll have to allow it to grow on me for it seemed quite heavy, subdued and sterile. I must be the problem ...
Instead of dishing out more dough for his second Mass in B Minor version on Harmonia Mundi, I'll wait for the Cantus Cölln one ... |

[To S.W. Anandgyan] Why must you be, as you say, the 'problem'? Does music have to adhere to a particular fad, fashion? Must one be afraid to be considered an 'outcast' or nonconformist? Music speaks from the heart. Is that 'simplistic'? I don't think so. We love to label everything and therefore we take away something, lose bits and pieces here and there.... Music, like language, is always evolving, just as we are.
So sorry for the heavy philosophy early in the morning! |
