Ihr schuechternen Blicke beharrlischer Suender,
wie wollt ihr das Antlitz des Richters doch sehn?
Gebaerden und Worte, Gedanken und Tichten,
das Tun und das Lassen will Jesus ja richten.
Ihr koennt nicht, o Satans gehorsame Kinder,
vor seiner allwissenden Allmacht bestehn.

 

2. Rezitativ

 

Mich machet Christi Blut von Suenden rein,
so mag mein Herz, ja selbst des Himmels Feste brechen;
Mein Glaube kann dabei ganz freudig sein
und ich kann freudensvoll und recht mit Sehnsucht sprechen:

 

3. Arie

 

Entbrennet nur, ihr letzten Flammen!
Komm, komm nur, Ende dieser Zeit!
Ich weiss, der Richter wird, aus Gnaden,
mich zu des Himmelsfreude laden
vom Stuhle seiner Herrlichkeit.
