Version in modern German

1. Arie

Goettlichs Kind, lass, mit Entzuecken,
dich doch an mein Herze druecken!
Deine Schoenheit nimmt mich ein.
Stern aus Jacob lass dein Glaenzen,
auf des Glaubens Engen grenzen,
meinen holden Leitstern sein!

2. Rezitativ

Ach, welchen holde Ton ergoetzet Herz und Oehren!
Was hat wohl jemals lieblicher geklungen,
als dieser helle Ruf von einer Engelszungen?
Ich muss, (ach suesse Seelenweide),
ich muss euch grosse Freude
jetzt offenbaren
und die soll allem Volke wiederfahren.

3. Arie

Steige, falle, cirkle, walle, vor heiligen Freuden, du Christliches Blut!
Heute besingen gar englische Choere,
dir zur Lust und Gott zur Ehre,
dein sichtbar erschienenes ewiges Gut.
