Version in modern German

1. Arie

Ueber der Propheten Blut
blutet selber Gottes Herze
und es aechz’t vor herbem Schmerze,
wenn mann ihnen Wehe tut.
Ihrer Feinde Wut zu schwaechen
und den Frevel Recht zu raechen,
braucht er Schwerter Glut und Flut.

2. Rezitativ

In dies erfreuen Christi Diener sich;
es ueberschwemmet ihre Brust
ein ganzes Meer der busst;
sie glauben sicherlich:
es werde Jesus, unter seiner Fluegel Schatten,
den selben Raum, Trost, Schutz und Kraft verschaffen.

3. Arie

Fleuch, o Flucht, entweicht, ihr Schrecken!
Jesus Fluegel will uns decken,
wenn uns Huelf‘ und Schutz gebricht.
Hier erquickt, in Kummer Freude,
Trost in Truebsal, Lust in Leide
Und die Hoelle schreckt uns nicht.
