Abscheuliche Tiefe des grossen Verderbens!
Verderben des Irren der stoerrigen Welt!
Der Himmel legt Jesum Eckstein des Lebens;
|Der spottenden Bosheit ist dieses vergebens;
Sie stoesst sich, sie strauchelt, sie stuerzet, sie faellt.

 

2. Rezitativ

 

Du aber, Heiland, bist und bleibest meine Lust;
Es macht kein Wehe mir nur bewusst,
und die Betrachtung deiner Pein
wird mir in Todesnot ein suesses Labsal sein.

 

3. Arie

 

Wenn in der Luft die Wetter sausen,
wenn Donner rollen, Fluten brausen,
bleibt meine Ruh ganz unbewegt.
Da Jesus, mir zum Fels beschieden,
so lieg‘ und schlaf‘ ich ganz mit Frieden,
weil mich hier Gnad‘ und Allmacht traegt.
