Mary Westbrook-Geha (Messo-soprano)

Born: USA

The American mezzo-soprano, Mary Westbrook-Geha, a graduate of the New England Conservatory, was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to perform two selections from his Songfest while she was a student at Tanglewood Music Center.

Her concert repertoire extends from the Verdi Requiem to the Bach Passions, including roles of contemporary works of Dallapiccola, John Harbison and appearances in collaboration with American choreographer Mark Morris.

Throughout the USA and western Europe, the singer has been heard in works from chamber music to opera, and as a recitalist Mary Westbrook-Geha has specialized in German and French song. She has since appeared with the Dresden Staatskapelle, Belgian National Opera, Boston Symphony, Handel & Haydn Society, San Francisco Symphony, the Orchestra of St. Luke's and summer festivals at Tanglewood, Caramoor, Marlboro and the PepsiCo Summerfare. A soloist in Emmanuel Music's Bach Cantata Series since 1978, Mary Westbrook-Geha appears for her tenth season with the New England Bach Festival. She has recorded for Arabesque, Denon, Music Masters, Sony Classical.
