Goldberg Variations/Scott Ross |

Sato Fumi wrote (March 4, 2004):I have just received Scott Ross's Goldberg Variations CD today. It is truly stunning. He completely grasps his music on the harpsichord with clear articulation. If the harpsichord was expressive in such a way, Bach would not have been, I suppose, less content with the instrument than with the clavichord. |

Jack Botelho wrote (March 4, 2004):[To Sato Fumi] I'm very happy you like this recording! For a long time it was my favourite too - his playing is certainly extremely brilliant and idiomatic to the harpsichord. Another Ross recording I was familiar with is his introductory disc 'Best Sonatas' of Domenico Scarlatti on Erato. Any opinions anyone on fine recordings of the Scarlatti sonatas - individual cds or sets? Has not Pierre Hantai commenced a D Scarlatti series? |
