Mónica Waisman (Violin)

Born: Córdoba, Argentina

The Argentine violinst (and violist), Mónica Waisman, studied violin at the Oberlin Conservatory, continuing with Baroque violin at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag.

Mónica Waisman enjoys a busy concert and recording schedule as a chamber musician, orchestral leader and soloist in the field of historical performance, and has performed with renowned period instrument groups throughout Europe, North and South America, as well as Asia. With Florian Deuter, she leads the ensemble Harmonie Universelle, founded in 2003; they also perform as a duo. She is also a member of Ensemble 1700 (Director: Dorothee Oberlinger), Música Temprana, Das Neue Orchester (Director: Christoph Spering), Concerto Köln.

Mónica Waisman's various recordings range from the standard repertoire of the European Baroque and Classical literature to recently re-discovered jewels from 18th century South America.​ With Harmonie Universelle, she has recorded works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Friedrich Fasch, Johann Pachelbel, Jean-Marie Leclair, Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli, sonatas by J.S. Bach and cantatas by Giovanni Battista Ferrandini among others. In 2008 they released a double album of A. Vivaldi's violin concerti. In 2018, with the soprano Dorothee Mields, they released "Lass mein Herz", a recording of overtures and cantatas by Christoph Graupner.
