Born – USA
The American soprano Kimberly McCord studied at Indiana University and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. During the past few years she has won various prizes in England and the USA, and has also participated in master classes given by Graham Johnson, Emma Kirkby and Nancy Argenta, among others.
Kimberly already has a lot of oratorio experience and has sung important parts in Händel’s Messiah, Bach’s St Matthew Passion (BWV 244), Monteverdi’s Marien Vespers, and Haydn’s Creation. In the world of opera she has sung the role of Naiad in Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss, Créuse in Medée by Charpentier and Médée in Thesée by Jean-Baptiste Lully, conducted by William Christie. Last season Kimberly worked with The Netherlands Opera on their productions of Writing to Vermeer (New York tour) and Rêves d'un Marco Polo, directed by Pierre Audi for the Holland Festival.
