Jon Humphrey (Tenor)

Born: USA

The American tenor, Jon Humphrey, made his debut with the Cleveland Orchestra while an undergraduate at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory and continued with the Orchestra for the next six seasons.

Those early successes led to engagements with major orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke's, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Symphony Orchestra. Jon Humphrey's extensive list of J.S. Bach performances include the Bethlehem Bach Festival, Baldwin-Wallace College Bach Festival (1977-1987), Ann Arbor Chamber Singers and New York Pro Musica. A regular performer at the Marlboro Music Festival, he has sung J.S. Bach with Blanche Moyse and the New England Bach Festival since 1973. In the field of contemporary music, he has premiered works by John Harbison, Conrad Susa, John Duke.

Jon Humphrey teaches at the University of Massachusetts, where he has been awarded the Philip Bezanson professorship.
