Ensemble Musica Poetica Freiburg (Baroque Instrumental & Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: 1985 - Freiburg, Germany

Ensemble Musica Poetica Freiburg (= EMPF) was founded in 1985. The individual members come from Freiburg, the area south of Baden and of Baden-Württemberg as well as Switzerland. Since the establishment a selection of musicians in concert practice for many years, found their identity at Musica Poetica. The ensemble used from the outset historical instruments and/or their reproductions, in order to be able to perform the music of the Baroque as original-faithfully as possible. In the course of its concert practice the ensemble could increase the orchestra size for its performances with more than thirty musicians.

Member of the ensemble are: Andrea Hornung-Boesen (Soprano), Andrea Bergmann (concert-master, Violin), Claudia Petersen-Staerkle (Violin), Hans Bergmann (Viola), Simone Brobeil (Viola), Adina Scheyhing (Viola da gamba), Bernadette Fries (Violoncello), Ingo Schlüchtermann (Violone), Monika Rieger (Transverse Flute), Martin Heidecker (Transverse Flute), Carole Wiesmann (Baroque Oboe), Esther Baumberger (Baroque Oboe), Wolfgang Mücke (Baroque Fagott), Bettina Seeliger (Organ, Harpsichord).
