The German tenor, Ulrich Cordes, holds diplomas in both Sacred Music and Voice from Cologne Conservatoire (Professor Christoph Prégardien). As a Socrates Fellow he was able to study at CNSMDP, Paris with Professor Pierre Mervant in 2005. Pursuing the Aufbaustudiengang Konzertexamen he has been a member of Christoph Prégardien's voice studio since the beginning of 2008. He has participated Masterclasses with Prof. Claudia Visca and Prof. Konrad Jarnot. Cordes was presented with a 2nd rank for his audition for the PodiumJungerGesangssolisten in June 2008.
Ulrich Cordes has been participating in concerts all over Germany, in the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Italy, Norway, Austria, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Moldova, and Brazil. His repertoire contains J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), George Frideric Handel's oratorios, Haydn's The Creation and Masses, Mozart's Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus, L.v. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Rossini's Petite Messe solenelle, and Orff's Carmina Burana among others.
Ulrich Cordes' concert partners have been the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Bach-Collegium München, Pratum Integrum (St. Petersburg), the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, La beata Olanda (Freiburg), or the Orquestra Sinfonica da Bahia (Salvador). Beside his participations in concerts he appeared on the opera stage in various productions.
