Ich glaube, lieber Herr, hilf meinem Unglauben! Examples from the Score |

Mvt. 1 |
|
As in many other cantata movements of this type, the 1st mvt. instrumental motif undergoes, throughout the course of this movement, a number of transformations/changes without losing its general shape. Particular attention should be given to the varying interval leap upwards in each of the following examples. There is a great likelihood that some symbolic, text interpretative significance can to attached to at least some of these. List members are invited to speculate on what these symbolic connections might be. |
