Kurt Fiebig (Composer)

Born: February 28, 1908 - Berlin, Germany
Died: 1988

Kurt Fiebig was a German composer, organist (also playing piano and harpsichord) and choir leader. He studied piano with Gertud Wetheim and Rudolph Schmidt, organ with Arnold Dreyer and Composition with Karol Rathaus and Franz Schreker. In 1933 he passed the State Exam for Organists and Choir Director in Berlin.

From 1926 to 1935 Kurt Fiebig was organist and choir leader in Berlin; from 1936 to 1938 cathedral organist in Quedinburg; from 1939 to 1950 he was Director of Church Music School in Halle. From 1951 he was member of the Faculty at the Hamburg Institute of Music, and from 1960 Lecturer of Composition there.

Kurt Fiebig received the Mendelssohn Prize for Composition. He was married with Dorothea Simke and had 2 sons. Hobbies: Literature; Theatre.

Markuspassion; Kantate Et Unum Sanctam; Missa secunda; Missa Media vita; Paul-Gerhardt Kantate; Concertino for violin and string orchestra; Easter oratorio; Cantata Wie nach einer Wasserquelle; Concerto for Cembalo and String orchestra; works for organ, piano and cembalo; Stons: a Song Cycle Advent Oratorio.
