Sandra Stahlheber (Contralto)

Born: Southern Palatinate, Germany

The German contralto, Sandra Stahlheber, completed successfully her studies at the Musikhochschule Mannheim. Master-classes with Ingeborg Danz (Europäisches Musikfest Stuttgart), Klesie Kelly (Switzerland, Italy) and Christoph Prégardien (Villa Musica, Schloß Engers), as well as the scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verbands complement the vocal training.

For many years Sandra Stahlheber has performed as a soloist in oratorios (J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Mass in B minor BWV 232; George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Felix Mendelssohn's Elias, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle), cantatas and masses; Lieder recitals with various chamber music partners and participation in renowned ensembles (Gaechinger Cantorey Stuttgart (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Athos Ensemble Karlsruhe, Capella Spirensis Vocale Speyer) have taken her through Germany and abroad and show the versatility of her artistic work.

Sandra Stahlheber has been seen on the opera stage at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Staatsoper Stuttgart. She has been loyal to the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart under its chief conductor Marcus Creed for many years in numerous projects. This leads to repeated collaborations with other renowned conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington, Hans Zender, Peter Rundel and Frieder Bernius.
