Saar Chamber Orchestra (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: October 1, 1953 - Saarbrücken, Germany

Saar Chamber Orchestra (= SCC) was a string ensemble (5/4/5/3/1) of originally 18 musicians (10 of which were transfuges from Berlin) founded on October 1, 1953 in Saarlouis (Germany) by Karl Ristenpart; transferred to the new Radio-Station of Saarbrücken (Germany) in 1962; conducted by Antonio Janigro from 1968-1972; merged with the Saarbrücken Radio Symphony Orchestra in July 1973.

First violin solo (1954-1970): Georg Friedrich Hendel
Second violin solo (1953-1968): Hans Schlupp
First violist solo: (1953-1973): Max Bretschneider / Hans Bünte
First cellist solo: (1953-1970): Betty Hendel-Hindrichs
