The German lyric baritone, Felix Rumpf, gained his first musical experience in the Stadtsingechor in Halle, to which he belonged until graduation. In 2004 he started his singing studies at the Musikhochschule Dresden with Susanne Prager. In 2007 he became a member of the Lied class of Kammersänger Professor Olaf Bär. After graduating in 2009, he completed postgraduate studies, which he graduated in 2011 with honors. He also attended master-classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Julia Varady, Peter Schreier, Ruth Ziesak and Gerold Huber. He is a laureate of various international competitions, so he won in 2013 at the Antonin Dvorak Competition in Karlovy Vary, the 1st prize in the song category, the 2nd prize in the opera category, and a special prize for the best interpretation of a Baroque aria. In 2014, he was the 2nd prize-winner at the Internationalen Brahmswettbewerb Pörtschach and Joseph-Suder-Wettbewerb in Nürnberg. In 2013, he was awarded the Schubert Prize of the Deutschen Schubertgesellschaft.
As part of the Musikhochschule productions Felix Rumpf could be seen as Agamemnon in Die schöne Helena, Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Graf von Eberbach in Der Wildschüt. He also performed at the Landesbühnen Sachsen and at the Neuen Elblandphilharmonie.
Also as a concert singer Felix Rumpf has experienced in the classical-romantic repertoire, as well as in works of the early and high Baroque. His musical partners include conductors such as Hans-Christoph Rademann, Roderich Kreile and Ludwig Güttler. He was also a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius).
Felix Rumpf arranges numerous recitals, among others the "Lied in Dresden" and the series "Lied-gut". A central component of these evenings is the romantic German Lied, especially the songwriting of Franz Schubert, but also Lieder cycles by other composers such as Johannes Brahms (Die schöne Magelone, Deutsche Volkslieder) and H. Wolf (Italienisches Liederbuch, Mörike-Lieder). He currently lives in Dresden, Germany. |
