Christian Pohlers (Tenor)

Born: October 8, 1989 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

The German tenor, Christian Pohlers, took his first lessons at the piano and in music theory at the age of 6. He was chorister of the Thomanerchor Leipzig from 1999 to 2008 under Thomaskantor Professor Thomanerchor Leipzig. He often performed solo parts. He has been studying music at schools at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig since 2009, his main subject being voice. Additionally, he has been studying Anglistics and Latin for teaching certification at the University of Leipzig. Since 2014, he has studied singing with Professor Regina Werner-Dietrich.

For his studies of music at schools he portrayed Monostatos in W.A. Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Loge in Wagner’s Rhinegold. He performed the solo part of the Evangelist in both George Frideric Handel's and Heinrich Schütz' version of St John Passion and appeared in Carl Heinrich Graun’s cantata Der Tod Jesu. In 2014, he made his debut at the Theater Nordhausen in Offenbach's The Bandits as the Earl of Gloria Cassis.

Christian Pohlers has been receiving te Live-Music-Now scholarship. Since April 2012 he is Head of Music Department Proofreading at Phonus in Leipzig. He is e member of the vocal quintet Nobilis (founded in 2012). He currently lives in Leipzig, Germany.
