Hans Otto (Organ)

Born: 1922 - Leipzig, Saxony, Germany
Died: 1996 - Freiberg, Saxony, Germany

The German organist, Hans Otto, was a member of the Thomanerchor Leipzig, and studied with Karl Straube the Church Music Institute of the Leipzig Musikhochschule (conservatoire) from 1945 to 1948.

From 1949 to 1968 Hans Otto was active as choirmastcr-organist in Dresden and also lectured there the Church Music School. In 1968 he became choirmaster at the Cathedral of Freiberg (Saxony) and in 1983 became Organist at the Magdeburg Konzerthalle.

Hans Otto was complete command of all areas of responsibility pertaining to church music. In addition to numerous organ concerts and organ recordings, his activity as a choir conductor and the many years he worked together with the Dresdner Kreuzchor under Rudolf Mauersberger are worthy of mention.
