The German baritone and choral conductor, Philipp Goldmann, was a member of the Thomanerchor Leipzig (until 2006) and studied singing and choral conducting with Roland Schubert, Berthold Schmid, Roland Börger and Vivianne Sydnes at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" in Leipzig (2007-2013) and at Norges musikkhøgskole in Oslo, Norway (2013-2014). Among other things, he was a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium and a scholarship holder of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Master-classes with Kammersänger Peter Schreier and Gerd Türk gave him important impulses.
Philipp Goldmann is active as a baritone singer and choral conductor since October 1987. As a baritone, he is in demand above all in the field of oratorio works. He also regularly works as a freelancer with renowned ensembles such as the MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig, Amsterdam Baroque Choir (Director: Ton Koopman), Lautten Compagney Berlin (Director: Wolfgang Katschner), Bach Consort Leipzig or Arsys Bourgogne (Director: Pierre Cao).
Since April 2015, Philipp Goldmann has been Music Director of the Denkmalchor Leipzig, one of Leipzig's most distinguished choirs. With the Völkerschlachtdenkmal Leipzig, the Denkmalcho has a concert venue of extraordinary quality and charisma. The performances of vocal music in the Völkerschlachtdenkmal are unique in the German choral landscape due to the special acoustic conditions and an extraordinary spatial sound. In addition, he acts as initiator and organizer of choir and ensemble projects.
From August 2002, Philipp Goldmann sang in the men's vocal quartet Ensemble Thios Omilos and served as Musical Director until the dissolution of the group in 2018. The group traveled to China, Taiwan, Austria, Italy, France, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. The ensemble released two CD's and won numerous prizes at major international competitions.
Philipp Goldmann worked as voice trainer with Schola Cantorum Leipzig (February 2015-October 2017). Since October 2015, he teaches classical singing at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg; and since October 2016 he teaches choir and orchestra conducting at the Evangelischen Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle. He currently lives in Halle (Saale). |
