The American soprano, Saramae Endich, received her training at Ohio State University as well as with the pedagogues Emmy Joseph and Winifred Cecil in New York; later with Boris Goldovsky at the Berkshire Music Center.
Saramae Endich appeared particularly as concert and oratorio singer, whereby she performed frequently works from the Baroque time and from the Viennese classical period. In addition, she was active as an opera singer. Since 1961 she appeared at the Santa Fé Opera, where she participated in 1967 in the American first performance of Paul Hindemith's Cardillac in the role of the lady. She also appeared as a guest at New York City Centre Opera, i.e. in 1962 and 1963 as the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, since 1965 likewise with the Washington Opera Society (i.e., as Marguerite in Faust by Charles Gounod), at the Festival of Glyndebourne of 1964 she sang the title role in Monteverdi's Incoronazione di Poppea with big success.
