Picture #3 : This photo was taken in Bogota, Colombia when the Bach Aria Group was on tour, in 1950. Robert Harmon's notation on the back (corresponding to the numbers on the picture) says: "At the b'cast: "Extras" are left to right: 1) Bernardo Mendel - Impressario, 2) 'Alberto' - page turner, 3) "Beaver" Hildebrand - Director of Univ. of the Andes, 4) Herb Barrett - our manager. |
Picture #4 : Again, taken in Bogota, 1950. "Scene after b'cast -- autograph hunters and Mendel." |
Picture #5 : Taken at "Camp Naidni" in Vermont, August, 1946. Camp Naidni (Indian, spelled backwards) was located on Lake Dunmore, not too far from Middlebury, Vermont. Diana Harmon Asher believes it was a summer home to William Scheide and the Bach Aria Group used it as a kind of retreat. (Her family used to go up there when she was little, in the 60's-- she thinks Sheide must have sold it to someone who ran it as a summer rental for families). The performers are "Scheide, Wilk, Tobias and Harmon." |
Picture #6 : This was also taken at "Naidni."
The musicians in the picture are, as noted by Robert Harmon, "Bloom, Scheide, Kagen, Dottie Farrow, Jean Carlton, Robert Harmon, Margaret Tobias, Barron, Ellen Osborn, Wilk, Norman." |
