Bach Partitas: Richard Goode |
|
Francine Renee Hall wrote (March 8, 2002):I finally got to listen to Richard Goode on Nonesuch (79483). He only did Partitas 4, 2 and 5, and I've heard nothing about him completing the set (pulling a Gould leg?). Anyway, I found his playing sensitive to the piano-- no overpedelling or Steinway size attacks. Rather sensitive playing, watchful of the French style. I found it quite beautiful and is a happy addition to my Partita collection (Ralph Kirkpatrick, Christophe Rousset, Glenn Gould, and now Richard Goode). When I want to listen to it several times, that's a good sign, I think. |
