Robert Leech Bedell (Composer, Arranger)

Born: February 13, 1909 - Jersey City Heights, New Jersely, USA
Died: May 22, 1974 - Syosset, New York, USA

Robert Leech Bedell was an American composer, organist, teacher, radio and recording artist. He studied at the Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, New York. He studied organ with Carl G. Schmidt and George W. Westerfield

Robert Leech Bedell was organist and choirmaster at St. Anne's Episcopal Church; organist at Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences; organist in New York Radio Station WNYC, giving organ recitals from Brooklyn Museum of Art; organist of the Brooklyn Oratorio. His awards and honours include: honorary Doctor of Philosophy at Temple Bar, Montana (1938); honorary Mus. D. at Southwestern College, Win-field, Kansas (1947); honorary Litt. Doc. At Findlay College, Findlay, Ohio (1950); ASCAP (1939).

Robert Leech Bedell's compositions include: Legende for organ (1940, recorded by Charles M Courboin on RCA Victor); Out of the deep have I called unto Thee for male choir (published by G Schirmer, 1938); Now let the full tone chorus, Anthem (1948).
