Ewa Wolak (Contralto)

Born: Poland

The Polish contralto, Ewa Wolak, received her musical training at the Music Conservatoire in Krakau (viola, singing). She completed her singing studies at the Music Academy in Krakau receiving a diploma with honour. As DAAD stipendiary, she studied continued at the University for Music in Karlsruhe. She is prize-winner of some singing competitions, among other them are WC’s Hertogenbosch and Grand Prix Maria Callas in Athens. In 1998 she was distinguished as the Europe Culture Prize of the European Union.

As a concert artist Ewa Wolak has appeared in numerous festivals all over Europe. Thus she has sung, among other things, on invitation of Krzystof Penderecki to the European Chimey Fondation in Belgium, at Warsaw Autumn, Tirol Festival 2000, Vilnius Festival 2000. She also participated at the Intemationalen Händel Festivals in Göttingen and Karlsruhe. Since 1998 are she is engaged at the National Theatre of Baden Karlsruhe.
