The soprano German soprano, Katharina Woesner, enjoyed early musical training in the GewandhausKinderchor in Leipzig, after which she became a member of the GewandhausChor and the Kammerchor Josquin des Préz. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Singing / Theater Music from the Universität der Künste Berlin (2010-2015); and her Master of Music degree in Singing at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf (2015-2017), where she studied with with Professor Konrad Jarnot. She received further musical and acting impulses in courses from Juliane Banse, Mariella Devia, Christiane Iven, Sergei Leiferkus, Gerd Uecker, Eric Schneider, Hendrik Heilmann and Julia Stemberger, among others. Together with the pianist Rie Sakai, she was the winner of the 2nd Liedduo-Wettbewerbs Lied und Lyrik Rhein-Rhur. In addition, she was a scholarship holder of the Richard-Wagner-Verband Düsseldorf.
In addition to her solo concert activities, which have already taken her to the Konzerthaus and Philharmonie in Berlin, the Thomaskirche in Leipzig and the Beethovenfest Bonn, Katharina Woesner is also active as a singing teacher. Since the 2019-2020 winter semester, she has been teaching as part of a teaching assignment at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in Düsseldorf (since November 2019) and at the Musikschule der Stadt Hilden (since August 2019).
Her debut as Madama Butterfly, which she sang in spring 2020 under the baton of Stefano Rabaglia in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf's Big Bang series, was highly praised. Previously, she played Rosalinde in Strauss' Die Fledermaus and Clarice in Haydn's Die Welt auf dem Monde in productions at the Düsseldorfer Hochschule. In the 2016-2017 and 2018-2019 seasons she was also engaged for the project choir and the role of Mimosa 1 in the children's opera Die Schneekönigin by M.F. Lange at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and experienced the Baroque Theater Summer 2014 in the Baroque Opera Pasticcio Il teatro alla moda – Zickenkrieg und Engelsstimmen in Potsdam. She is also a member of Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering). |
