Born: USA
The American bass, James Weaver, earned his degree in vocal performance from the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, where he studied with Max van Egmond.
James Weaver's interest in oratorio and vocal chamber music of all periods has led him to work with such diverse groups as Belgian director Philippe Herreweghe’s Collegium-Vocale Gent, the Dutch experimental group GRIF, and many major oratorio and chamber music groups in both North America and Europe. He has appeared in the USA with the Houston Oratorio Society, the Washington Bach Consort, Ensemble Courant, Chicago’s Basically Bach, Capriole, the Smithsonian Chamber Players, and the Baltimore Consort.
James Weaver has recorded for Smithsonian, Dorian and Koch International. His recordings include 16th century English music with the Baltimore Consort and Bach’s St. John Passion (BWV 245) with the Smithsonian Chamber Players (1989).
James Weaver serves on the faculty of the Early Music Athnæum at Rutgers University and appears regularly at summer music festivals across the country.
