Überlinger Münster- und Kammerchor (Choirs)

Born: Überlingen, Germany

Der Überlinger Münster- und Kammerchor

For concerts and performances as a whole the entire Münster- und Kammerchor is called, with the substantive tasks of the two choirs differ.

The Münsterchor (Cathedral Choir) is the traditional church choir of St. Nikolaus Münster in Überlingen and assumes the duties of liturgical choir in the church year. The Kammerchor (Chamber Choir) is the "younger" choir, which was founded about 35 years ago as Überkonfessionelle Konzertchor, but concentrated on sacred music. Many members of the Münsterchor sing at the same time in the Kammerchor, with separate rehearsal dates. Conversely, many singers of the Kammerchor support the Münsterchor at the church's festivals in performance of orchestral masses at the cathedral.

Die Jugendkantorei

The Jugendkantorei was founded in autumn 2002 and arose from the previous groups Münstersängerknaben (boys' choir) and Mädchenkantorei (girls' choir), which had been existed in this form several decades. Due to the changing requirements of the reorganisation, the Jugendkantorei took place in its present form in four different mixed groups, divided according to ages.
