Elisabeth Popien (Contralto)

Born: Germany

The German contralto, Elisabeth Popien, studied first Evangelist Church Music at the Musikhochschule in Köln (Music College of Cologne), where she passed the examinations in 1992. Simultaneously, she kept her singing formation with Hans-Dieter Saretzki in Düsseldorf.

An emphasis of her activity is Ancient Music, whereby she contacts with Evelyn Tubb and Anthony Rooley, as well as co-operation with Sigiswald Kuijken, Hermann Max and Jordi Savall. Apart from this area she also sings romantic works, gives Lieder recitals and dedicates herself to the contemporary music.
