Patrick Pobeschin (Baritone)

Born: 1976 - Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German baritone, Patrick Pobeschin, studied singing at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with Dunja Vejzovic. Further important influences came from Maria Sofianska, Carl Davis, Julia Hamari and Kathrin Prick.

As a pianist and singer, Patrick Pobeschin has given concert tours to France, Italy, Norway, Israel, Canada and Japan. In addition, he has worked together with conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, Frieder Bernius and Philippe Herreweghe. He was a member of Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius).

Since the 2006-2007 season, Patrick Pobeschin is an ensemble member of the Staatstheater Mainz. He has appeared there in such roles as Heinrich von Kleist in in the world premiere of Kein Ort. Nirgends, Egon in Der Vetter aus Dingsda, Agamemnon in Die schöne Helena, Dreieinigkeitsmoses in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Lescaut in Manon, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Papageno in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (December 2009-January 2010), Lorenzo in I Capuleti e I Montecchi (March 2010), Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème (September 2008-May 2009), as well as the title roles of Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas and Figaro in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (June 2009, September 2009-May 2010). In the 2010-2011 season he sang Wolfram von Eschenbach in Tannhäuser (September 2010-May 2011), Moruccio in Tiefland (March-May 2011), and the title role in Sciarrino's Macbeth (May-June 2011), followed by Tarquinius in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Black Politician in Le grand macabre (March-May 2012) and Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte (June 2012, September 2012-April 2013), Der Prinz von Homburg (title role), Steuermann in Tristan und Isolde, and the title role in Eugene Onegin (March-May & November-December 2013).

Patrick Pobeschin has sung as a guest artist at the Aalto-Theater Essen, the Dortmund Theater, the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern and at the theaters in Regensburg and Heidelberg. He also sang in the premiere of the contemporary opera Melancholia by Georg Friedrich Haas (b 1954) at the Opéra de Paris. He also performed this role at Den Nye Opera in Stavanger, Norway. In November 2011, he sang in concert titled "im Gang und im Schwang" with the Nürtinger Kantorei and the orchestra Camerata Laurentiana, conducted by Angelika Rau-Čulo.
