Anna Kunze (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: 1990 - Thuringia, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, Anna Kunze, studied classical singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock with Janet Williams. Master-classes with Barbara Bornemann, Ingeborg Danz, Helen Donath and David Jones, among others, supplemented her training.

In recent years Anna Kunze has established herself as a very successful soloist in the concert and oratorio field. She worked, for example, with Hans-Christoph Rademann at the Bachwoche Stuttgart, with Andreas Spering and his Ensemble Capella Augustina in Cologne and is a regular guest at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis Kirche in Berlin under the direction of Achim Zimmermann. Her solo engagements complement her appearances at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, her collaboration with the Norddeutschen Philharmonie, Neubrandenburger Philharmonikern and Orchester für Alte Musik Vorpommern. She recently celebrated great success as a soloist in a world premiere by Roderick Williams together with the Sheridan Ensemble and the RIAS-Kammerchor at the Berliner Philharmonie. In 2019 she also made guest appearances as a soloist with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the RIAS-Kammerchor under the direction of Florian Helgath in Istanbul. She was a permanent member of the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin from 2018 to 2020.

Anna Kunze celebrated stage successes in the operatic field as Maddalena, Mrs. Herring, Marcellina and Dido, among others, under the direction of Julien Salemkour.

Anna Kunze also works regularly in very successful ensembles such as the RIAS-Kammerchor and the Vocalconsort Berlin. Here she worked with well-known conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Konrad Junghänel, René Jacobs, Iván Fischer, Robin Ticciati, Vladimir Jurowski, Lukasz Borowicz, Christoph Eschenbach, Stefan Parkman, Christopher Hogwood, Titus Engel and Keri-Lynn Wilson. She currently lives in Potsdam, Germany.
