Hanns-Friedrich Kunz (Bass, Conductor)

Born: Ochsenhausen/Württemberg, Germany

The German bass and conductor, Hanns-Friedrich Kunz, studied first school music at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. During the studies he was member of the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart. With its leader Helmuth Rilling he received choir directing instruction in Frankfurt. From 1969 to 1973 he studied singing in Freiburg with Brigitte Münz. In 1974 he was winner in the category "Lied und Oratorium" in the competitions ARD-Wettbewerb München and Deutschen Musikrat. He completed master courses with Erik Werba and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

Apart from an extensive activity as a concert singer in his homeland and abroad, Hanns-Friedrich Kunz taught for many years at the Colleges of Music in Freiburg and Karlsruhe. From 1975 to 1987 he was conductor of the Figuralchors Offenburg. In 1992 he was appointed as the artistic director/conductor of the Stuttgarter Hymnus-Chorknaben. In 2002 he was appointed the director of church music.
