Moritz Kallenberg (Tenor)

Born: Germany

The German tenor, Moritz Kallenberg, was a member of the boys‘ choir Capella Vocalis in Reutlingen. He studied at Musikhochschule Freiburg with Reginaldo Pinheiro, and at Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence, and took master classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, René Jacobs, Margaret Honig and Claudio Desderi. He is the recipient of the Carl-Seemann prize and the Helene Rosenberg scholarship.

Notable past appearances were Ecclitico in Il mondo della luna and Tierhändler in Der Rosenkavalier with Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle in Baden Baden, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni at Franz Liszt Academy Budapest, 2. Nazarener in Salome at Oper Leipzig, title role in Der Vetter aus Dingsda at Stadttheater Freiburg and various productions for Staatsoperette Dresden. In the 2017-2018 season Moritz Kallenberg was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Stuttgart.

Moritz Kallenberg has been a member of Staatsoper Stuttgart since 2018-2019 where he sings roles such as 1. Geharnischter in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Knappe in Parsifal, Tschaplitsky in Pique Dame and Graf Hohenzollern in Der Prinz von Homburg. Future projects include Belfiore in W.A. Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera with William Christie at Festival Les Jardins de Voix Thirè, Cité de la Musique Paris, Opéra Royal des Versailles, Theater an der Wien and Palau de les Arts Valencia, as well as 2. Gralsritter in Parsifal at Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg.

On the concert platform, Moritz Kallenberg’s repertoire ranges from J.S. Bach, Haydn, W.A. Mozart and Schubert to lesser known works such as Georg Philipp Telemann's Matthäus-Passion, Brockes-Passion and George Frideric Handel ‘s Alexander-Fest. In 2017 he made his debuts both as Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) conducted by Ruben Jais in Milan and with W.A. Mozart’s Requiem at Konzerthaus Berlin.
