The English bass, Gordon Jones, studied at the University of York and was Choral Scholar at the Cathedral of York.
Gordon Jones began in 1983 a concert career, which brought him to England, as well as big successes on international level. Thus he sang at the Lincoln Center in New York and at the Royal Palace in the Hague, at the Festival of Sienna and with a tour to Italy (Le Vin herbé by Franc Martin and The Fairy Queen by Purcell), in performances of Luciano Berio’s Sinfonia under the direction of the composer, in the Johannes (BWV 245) and the Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach with the Choir of the King's College Cambridge. At the Almeida Festival in London he could be heard in 1986 in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, likewise in 1988 with an England tour. He participated in concerts in Bristol and Aberdeen, at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence and at the Malvern Festival and appeared with the ensemble The Sixteen in Spain with performances of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244).
