The Swiss soprano, Jessica Jans,.began her musical education at the Musikakademie of Basel. Already during her school years, she received groundbreaking impulses, which continued in her studies at at the Musikhochschule Basel and the Musikhochschule Detmold. She completed her studies with two successful graduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Education. In a subsequent Master degree program at the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, she completed her knowledge of historical performing and singing practice of early music. More inspiration she got from working with Margreet Honig, Anthony Rooley, Kurt Widmer and Roswitha Müller.
Jessica Jans works as a soloist in different styles from Renaissance to contemporary music. She is particularly interested in chamber music finds expression in the jointly established with Dominik König Duo for Voice and Organ DuOLCISSIMO, and in recitals with pianist Peter Kreutz and in other formations, among them the Ensemble Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci) (Basel). Moreover, working with professional vocal ensembles is an important part of her musical activity. So she is a regular member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), ChorWerk Ruhr (Director: Florian Helgath), Huelgas Ensemble (Director: Paul van Nevel), Basler Madrigalisten (Director: Fritz Näf), Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz), and BERNVOCAL (Director: Fritz Krämer).
In summer 2010, Jessica Jans was finalist at the Wettbewerb für Lied-Duo der Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule für Musik Detmold. At the 1. Internationalen Orgel-Gesang-Wettbewerb Neuss 2012 she was awarded together with duo partner Dominik König with a second prize and the special prize of the audience.
As a siunging teacher Jessica Jans looks back on a long career as a private voice teacher and vocal coach. The sharing of knowledge and the love of music, are very important to her. During her studies, she particularly specialized in working with children's voices. So she worked most recently as vocal coach for the Domchor and the Mädchenkantorei of the Hohen Dom zu Paderborn. She currently lives in Basel, Switzerland. |
