The American choral conductor, tenor and music pedagogue, Bruce Gladstone, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from West Virginia Wesleyan College; his Master of Sacred Music and Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Southern Methodist University, and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music from the University of Illinois.
Bruce Gladstone has served as Director of Choral Activities at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia (1989-1992) and taught at Eastern Illinois University and West Virginia Wesleyan College. Since August 1999, he serves as Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he conducts the 85-member UW Chorale (Wisconsin-Madison) and the 34-member Madrigal Singers, as well as teaching the graduate Choral Literature and Performance Practice course and undergraduate Conducting. He is sought after as both a choral clinician and adjudicator
As a tenor soloist, Bruce Gladstone has performed with the Bach Chamber Choir of Milwaukee, Bach Collegium Choir, Larry Parsons Chorale, Texas Baroque Ensemble, Camerata Appalachia, UI Chorale, Vermilion Festival Chorus, Corelli Ensemble, and Baroque Artists of Champaign (BACH). Solo performances include Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem and St. Nicolas, J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244),John Harbison’s Four Psalms, and the role of Orfeo in the 400th anniversary performance of Peri/Caccini Euridice for the International Conference on Early Opera and Monody. Since August 2007, he is also Choir Director at Orchard Ridge UCC. He currently lives in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. |
