The Dutch soprano, Marjan van Veldhoven-Giel, received in 1981 her Master's degree in theater and music from the Rijksuniversitiet Utrecht. That same year, she completed a research in the field of theater education for SCOO (centrum onderwijsonderzoek, toen nog Kohnstamm-instituut). She taught for 7 years at the Werkplaats Kindergemeenschap in Bilthoven (until 1986) and obtained in 1989 her diploma in classical singing at the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam.
