Ursula Fiedler (Soprano)

Born: Germany

The German soprano, Ursula Fiedler, studied violin and singing in Hannover and singing in Vienna.

Ursula Fiedler has performed on the stage in compositions from the field of early music such as Bononcini's Amore Doppio (Potsdam), Scarlatti's Il Mitridate Eupatore (Schwetzingen), Galuppi's Der Philosoph auf dem Lande, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Händel's Acis and Galatea. Other opera credits include Mozart's La Finta Giardinera and Zaide (Vienna Mozart Festival) as well as modern works such as Arthur Honegger's Jeanne d'Arc (Vienna), Janacek's Osud and Weill's Der Silbersee.

As a performer of early music Ursula Fiedler has worked with Thomas Hengelbrock and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Robert King and Il Giardino Armonico (Bach Weeks, Milan), the Limoges Baroque Ensemble and its director Christophe Coin, Peter Schreier and the Leipzig Bach Orchestra, and the brothers Lorenzo and Vittorio Ghielmi in Milan. She has performed on numerous occasions at the Schubertiade in Feldkirch.

Ursula Fiedler has a special affection for chamber music with the soprano voice. She has performed in this capacity together with the Vienna String Quartet, Vienna String Sextet (Styriarte, Graz), and many other ensembles.
