Magnus Dietrich (Tenor)

Born: Munich, Bavaria, Germany

The German tenor, Magnus Dietrich, studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München from 2013 to 2021. Since 2017 he has been studying there singing with Kammersänger Professor Andreas Schmidt and privately with Hartmut Elbert. Together with his Lieder partner Kota Sakaguchi, he attended Lied lessons with Professor Donald Sulzen, as well as accompaniment lessons with Nina Uhari. Master-classes with Julian Prégardien, Okka von der Damerau, Daniel Behle and Andreas Staier rounded off his training. He was a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium.

Magnus Dietrich has already made guest appearances at festivals such as the Bachfest Leipzig, the Kissinger Sommer in J.J. Rousseau's opera Le Devin du Village or the Festival de Santes. Concert tours with the Ensemble Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier) also took him to France, Belgium and the Netherlands. A regular concert activity also connects him with the Vocalconsort München under the direction of Johanna Soller, where he was last seen in Schubert's Nachthelle together with Professor Christine Schornsheim. He can also be heard monthly in the concert series "Cantate um 1715" as a member of the Capella Sollertia ensemble. Since 2019 he has been a permanent member of the five-member Munich vocal ensemble Nostalphoniker, who, together with their pianist, present music from the 1920's and 1930's in the style of the Comedian Harmonists.

Magnus Dietrich opened the 2020-2021 season with his return to the Kammeroper München with D. Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto in the role of Paolino under the direction of the Munich conductor Johanna Soller. He then made his debut as Belfiore in the series "Musiktheater im Reaktor" in W.A. Mozart's La finta giardiniera at the HfMT Munich. In the upcoming production he will be playing Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. From the 2021-2022 season, he will be a member of the Internationalen Opernstudios der Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin and a scholarship holder of the Liz Mohn Kultur- und Musikstiftung.
