Sonare Neuss (Baroque Instrumental Ensemble)

Founded: January 2015 - Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

At the beginning of 2015, the instrumental ensemble Sonare Neuss was founded under the artistic direction of Joachim Neugart.

The focus of the cooperation between the two groups (Cantus Neuss & Cantus Neuss) is the performace of the cantatas by J.S. Bach. Sonare Neuss also cultivates the spectrum of concert instrumental music from the 18th century. Depending on the requirements of the score, the instrumentalists come together in variously sized ensembles. The ensemble made its debut on January 4, 2015 at the Basilika Knechtsteden. Over the years concert engagements followed at Haus Lörick, Schloss Dyck, in Krefeld and at the Quirinusmünster Neuss. In autumn 2016 the ensemble accepted an invitation to Australia to present the music of J.S. Bach at various festivals in Melbourne and the surrounding area. In autumn 2019 Sonare and Cantus performed again in Australia with the Messiah by George Frideric Handel.
