The Maastricht Vocal Ensemble Lingua e Musica was founded in 1980 and has set itself the goal of combining a high musical standard with a good atmosphere. The choir consists of about 32 experienced, enthusiastic amateur singers with a distinctive sound. It strives for ambitious performances in which connections between language and music are sought in multiple ways.
The choir sings classical music from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina to Arvo Pärt and in all languages (from Latin to Latvian). Patrick Vaessens has been associated with the choir as its permanent conductor since 2011.
There is a concert at least twice a year. The next 'Lingua d'Amore' concerts are on April 11 and 12, 2026. The last concert, ‘Sta even stil’, took place in November 2025. In addition, the ensemble regularly performs in smaller settings and at unusual locations. The composition of a concert program is based on a specific theme, musical style, contrast, or period in music history. Sometimes, instrumental accompaniment and professional soloists are used. |
