The French conductor and music teacher, François Legée, studied at Ecole Hippolyte Taine (Vouziers) in Vouziers (1958-1962); Lycee Robert de Sorbon in Rethel (1965-1968); Lycée Jean Jaurès in Reims (1969-1973); Université De La Sorbonne Nouvelle: Paris IV in Paris (1973-1977).
When François Legée founded the Gradus Ad Musicam Choir and Orchestra in September 1982, he pursued, with the few musical friends who accompanied him at that time, a double objective: to approach the choral-symphonic repertoire with rigor and passion, by betting on the energy deployed to obtain the commitment of musicians, the first step for quality performances.
Eclectic in his choices, François Legée favors contacts with artists, singers, musicians, actors, directors, dancers with the fierce desire, for nearly 40 years now, to create bridges between genres and people: professionals, amateurs, young and old ...
At the same time as his work as a teacher, he turned from the age of 20 towards choir and orchestra direction (assistant to Jacques Grimbert, director of music at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne, and student of Jean-Sébastien Bereau, Professor of orchestral conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris.
François Legée was teacher at Collège Fréderic Chopin in Nancy (from 1980). After having taught in National Education and having held many positions in the continuing education of teachers, then, more recently, at the Délégation Académique à l'Action Culturelle, he has been director of CEFEDEM de Lorraine (Centre de Formation Supérieure des Enseignants de la Danse et de la Musique) since 2013. He also was external Executive at Rectorat De Nancy-metz in Nancy (1984-2013). He currently lives in Nancy, France. |
