Johann Friedrich Wender (Organ Builder)

Born: First days of December, 1655 (baptized: December 6, 1655) - Dörna, Saxony Germany
Died: 1729 - Germany

The German organ builder, Johann Friedrich Wender, was a Saxon organ builder, whose instrument at the Neuekiche in Arnstadt (1701-1703) was tested by J.S. Bach. Impressed by his work, J.S. Bach sunsequently commisioned him to enlarge the organ at Mühlhausen (1708-1709), to J.S. Bach’s own specifications. Wender’s instruments were also highly regarded by Johann Kuhnau and Johann Mattheson.
