Johann(es) [Hans] Bach [4] (Composer)

Died: buried May 13, 1673 - Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany

Johann(es) [Hans] Bach [4] ) was son of Johann(es) [Hans] Bach [2]. He had a seven-year apprenticeship and journeyman period with the Stadtpfeifer Christoph Hoffmann in Suhl, after which he became a .town musician in Erfurt. From 1636 he was organist of the Predigerkirche there.

Two motets by him are extant: Unser Leben ist ein Schatten (six parts with a three-part echo choir; SBA) and Sei nun wieder zufrieden (eight voices; SBA), as well as an aria Weint nicht urn meinen Tod for four voices and continuo (EDM, 1^st series, i, 1935, p.3; SBA).
